Consultants re-engaged to finalise designs.

Following the full business case approval by Birmingham City Council’s cabinet procurement committee in September 2011, the project consultants, Turner and Townsend and Capita Lovejoy have been authorised to commence the next stage of the project development. It is anticipated that tenders will be sought in March 2012 with work starting on site in late June 2012.

ERDF grant approved

A substantial grant in the sum of £691,000 has been secured via European Regeneration Development Funding that will enable the development of a unique and high quality design to be delivered.

]]> http://goldensquarebirmingham.com/2012/01/18/example/feed/ 0 Design team develop detail design proposals http://goldensquarebirmingham.com/2012/01/12/hello-world/ http://goldensquarebirmingham.com/2012/01/12/hello-world/#comments Thu, 12 Jan 2012 09:28:26 +0000 Ryan http://gsqr.wp.substrakt.net/?p=1 “Proposals for the Jewellery Quarter’s flagship Golden Square project continue to be progressed with Birmingham city council still fully committed through its Big City Plan initiatives programme.  The consultants, Turner and Townsend and Capita Lovejoy, have been re-engaged to complete the detailed design and tender documentation focusing on testing the technical and buildability aspects of the retail unit, the specialist stonework features, the lighting features and the interactive information screens.  It is anticipated that the specialist digital media and design agency, Substrakt, will be commissioned very shortly to develop the content for the information screens.  To ensure that the design solution meets user requirements, further consultation will take place with the local business and residential communuties.

It is anticipated that tenders will be issued in March 2012 with a start on site late June 2012 and completion by the end of March 2013.
